I remember watching Saturday morning cartoons at the
age of 6 when I
saw Belly Dancers on TV and knew immediately (with the cereal still in
my mouth) that Belly Dancing was going to be a part of my life. It was a
calling that lived inside me and even at that young of age I knew my
life would never be the same thus my belly dance journey began.
Since then I've traveled and studied in Egypt,
performed all across the United States produced theatrical shows,
workshops, taught privately and owned a studio and have been on line
since 2001 offering DVD's, live on line classes , instructional on line
videos. I love writing for my blog, belly dance magazines! I even found
time to write my book which is coming soon in 2012. [...read

Hip Phylosophy is about listening to students, understanding
the thought process that goes into learning moves and combinations and then
teaching in a way that connects the dots to help bring out your individual
emotion and dance drama.
Hip Phylosophy continuously changes because the needs of dancers change and
because I change. The best part of belly dance is performing our experiences
from life and creating something positive that gives us joy. Dance is very
personal so Hip Phylosophy is a curriculum that each student can embrace and
make her own.
Belly Dancing has universal appeal. Women from all over the globe are attracted
to Belly Dancing - And why not? Belly Dancing is sensual,
therapeutic, will make you feel great inside and out, is good for your health
and
… Whether you want to perform or not, the best part of all is accomplishing a
dance form that was created for women by women. What could be better? Really?
Online Belly Dance Classes at Belly Dance Village

Many students are
faced with the reality of either not having access to a teacher or
studio, not wanting to go to a studio and dance in front of others, or
don't have the where with all to be able to afford to invest in a
library of DVDS.
Belly Dance Village is
a new initiative that my husband and I have put together over the last
few months that specifically addresses the needs of those dancers who
can't find a teacher, studio or who prefer to learn privately from home.

Oh
wow !!
What a fabulous article ! Since I’ve put my own
personality & interpretation into my belly dancing &
choreographies, I’ve had so many compliments from more
experienced dancers than myself. I’m preparing for a dance
show next Wednesday the 22nd February with 49 other belly
dancers and I’ll be performing all my own choreographies. My
students are busy now with a pretty challenging drum solo choreo that I created but by the time they’ve got this one,
it will have developed their co-ordination, opposition hips,
chests & abs. Thank you Leyla, I couldn’t have done it
without you & the BDV training !!
Love & hugs, Tania xxx

Belly Dance Instructional DVDS

There are over 30
different Belly Dance DVDS in the catalog. All DVD/Videos are self produced by my husband
and I. We've been self producing since 2007 from our studio here in
Albuquerque because cutting out the middleman means creative freedom and
lower prices. Imagine what it might cost to have a videographer produce
the close to 30 titles we have now? For example...
"PS:
I just finished Hip Mastery 2 and started Hip
Mastery 3. Boy are my
hips tired, but I'm getting more flexibility and
movement than I've had in
many many years, so I think this kind of combo
drilling is a really good
workout for me"....Murwana

Dancing is a beautiful, sensual art form that touches women from all
corners of the globe on a deep level. This is because Belly Dancing is a
celebration life, living and the spirit. And in the process
of celebrating (practicing and dancing) you get to feel better about
your body, feel better about yourself, experience real health benefits
and if you perform you get applause.

This video is one of my favorites for the very reason that the traveling
steps and turns I am going to share with you are from my own
inspiration. If you are a troupe director you will love these traveling
steps and turns because they were really created for troupes and duets. The Folkloric Fan is a take off from a move I saw in Egypt but it was
only done on the right side and there were no turns involved. I felt
that it could really be something special if more was added and “zap”
the moves came into place and the Folkloric Fan was born.[...read

There are
many reasons women want to belly dance and as many reasons why practicing gets thrown out the window after the magic has worn off abit.
The goal for the studio teacher or private instructor is to give students reasons to keep
practicing after they leave class. Life and schedules can get in the way of good sound practicing but along with this, bad habits can come into a student’s perceived view or memory of doing the move “correct” away from the teacher.
Correct in a students mind can mean
different things. This is natural but I think a sound curriculum to start with helps with any problems that develop when a student practices at home.
(I am talking about weekly students, not students who come once in awhile).
